Our Purpose and History

This auxillary was birthed on September 2008. It began with a desire to reach out to men and women with cancer. It all started with the idea of making heart shape pillows for cancer patients at local hospitals. The pillows were designed to bring physical comfort during treatments. Last year more than 200 pillows were taken to local and regional hospitals that house residents of Live Oak county: Christus Spohn-Shoreline, Corpus Christi; Methodist Hospital, San Antonio; M.D. Anderson, Houston. In addition, more than 60 other gift baskets were taken to Christus Spohn-Shoreline in Corpus.

January 2009, "This Little Light" was created. The foundation for the name was taken from Jesus' words, so we strive to bring a little light to brighten up the lives of those we cross paths with, as they endure these uneasy times. Here is a schedule for this year:

• Mother's Day - South Tex. Region Hospital (Jourdanton), 5/8/09 @ 10:30am

3. Donate some of the gift items: -stuffed animals - flowers -  fruit/nuts - lap throw quilts - heart shaped pillows - personal hygiene products - pen/pencils - note pads/notebooks - word search books - cross word puzzles - cups/water glasses - gift cards
